The University wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer with broad-ranging intellectual interests and outstanding academic record in Russian Studies. The Senior Lecturer will be expected to take a leading role in the running and development of the Russian section, assuming the role of Head of Russian from September 2019 (or shortly thereafter). The ideal candidate will also be able to offer expertise in one of the following fields: Politics, Language-learning & Language Policy, Decolonisation/Post-colonisation studies, visual arts, gender studies. They will have an outstanding record of publication; experience of providing research leadership; and a record of winning funding for research and/or knowledge exchange activities. Applicants will also have a proven track record of teaching excellence and innovation in curriculum development, student support and a commitment to leadership in these areas. This is a full time and open-ended post. The successful appointee will commence on 1st September 2019 or as soon as possible thereafter. Salary: Grade UE09 - £51,630 to £58,089 per annum. The University wishes to appoint a Senior Lecturer with broad-ranging intellectual interests and outstanding academic record in Russian Studies. The Senior Lecturer will be expected to take a leading role in the strategic growth of Russian Studies at all levels, and possess the flexibility and imagination to collaborate with colleagues and departments in other disciplines, as well as engage effectively with external stakeholders and audiences.
The incoming Senior Lecturer will also assume a significant role in teaching, research and knowledge exchange and engagement, through individual staff development, generation of external research grant income, pedagogical excellence, the recruitment of high quality postgraduate students, and the development of knowledge exchange and engagement partnerships and activities. The person appointed will engage in research of international excellence in his/her particular field of specialisation, and contribute fully to the undergraduate curriculum, postgraduate teaching and supervision as appropriate to that specialisation and wider student support.
